Residential Treatment

At Newport Academy, we provide a loving environment for teens to begin their recovery from teenage drug abuse and mental health struggles in a safe and supportive home-like setting. Research has found that gender-specific residential environments provide the most effective treatment for teen mental health, teenage depression, anxiety in teens, and teenage substance abuse issues. Each adolescent’s individualized residential treatment program incorporates evidence-based clinical, experiential, and academic elements. These work together to reveal and heal the underlying issues that cause self-destructive behaviors. With a staff to resident ratio of 5:1, we provide each teen with the utmost support, attention, and guidance so that they can be successful in their recovery and gain lifelong skills for true happiness and health.

Newport Academy Day Schools

The Newport Academy Day Schools challenge the convention of what many most classify as schools for troubled teens. We offer a comprehensive, creative, and compassionate environment that supports mind, body, and spirit. We provide a balance between recovery counseling and academic programming to continue each student’s growth. Newport Academy Day Schools ensure that students develop necessary life skills and receive a high school diploma, while remaining committed to abstinence from self-destructive behaviors. Newport Academy faculty customizes an educational plan to fit each student’s specific needs and work closely with administrators, teachers, and school counselors to support students’ academic success, and promote personal achievement.

Family-Systems Approach

We are all products of a family system. At Newport Academy, we honor this fact by incorporating the entire family in treatment, offering a comprehensive family-systems approach to teen treatment and recovery. This philosophy of care recognizes that the family is a holistic system, naturally interconnected and interdependent. We know from experience that each family member plays a part in the wellness of the entire family. When one is affected, all are affected. It is from this foundation that the Newport Academy Treatment Team develops each teen’s individual treatment plan.

Within our family-systems approach, Newport Academy uses a variety of modalities, including therapeutic process groups, experiential therapy, individual therapy, and psychoeducational work to ensure sustainable healing.
