Residential Treatment Facilities for Teenage Girls
The right environment is key for successful treatment. Our teen female residential treatment centers for ages 12–18 span the length of the East and West Coasts. Each location offers comfort and natural beauty to cultivate transformation and healing from mental health issues, trauma, eating disorders, and substance abuse.
Our residential treatment centers for teen girls are in well-appointed, cozy houses, with comfortable living areas, dining areas for family-style meals, fully equipped gyms, and art and music studios. All our locations are close to beautiful parks, walking trails, and nature preserves so teen girls can experience the benefits of time in nature and outdoor activities.
Gender-Specific and Age-Specialized Treatment
At Newport Academy, we provide gender-responsive care, meaning that teen girls are treated in separate residential treatment programs and live in separate housing. Years of experience and research have taught us that gender-responsive care supports teen girls to feel heard, engage with treatment, and form authentic and honest peer connections. Moreover, Newport Academy’s clinicians and staff have specialized training in treating LGBTQ teens. Our treatment is also specialized for the specific age and stage of our clients: We recognize the many pressures and challenges that teens face in today’s uncertain world.
Is Residential Care the Right Fit for My Daughter?
If your daughter is struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use disorder, eating disorders, or PTSD, residential treatment is often the most effective approach for addressing underlying issues and achieving sustainable healing. Experts recommend longer stays in teen residential treatment in order to achieve successful outcomes. That’s because it takes time to uncover and heal the root causes of behavioral issues, especially when teen girls have co-occurring disorders like substance abuse or self-harming behaviors.
The Long-Term Benefits of Residential Care
Parents often ask us, “Why should I consider residential care for my daughter?” The benefits of teen treatment are numerous and will positively impact your daughter for her entire life. In addition to addressing the root causes of mental health disorders, residential mental health treatments gives teen girls tools for healthy coping and builds their self-esteem and emotional regulation. Moreover, they learn to find their voice, build relationship skills, and form strong, authentic connections with peers and mentors. You will likely see a difference very quickly when your teen daughter begins residential treatment.
The Rewards of Treatment for Teen Girls
Wondering how to convince your daughter to start residential treatment? Let her know that her time in treatment will be hard work, but it will also be fun and meaningful. With experiential activities like art therapy, music therapy, yoga and movement, and Equine-Assisted Therapy (depending on location), residential treatment for teen girls can be exciting and empowering. Moreover, teen girls in our residential programs develop caring friendships with other girls who understand what they’re going through—and they stay connected through our Alumni Program.
