Tim Ringgold, MT-BC
Since 1995, Tim Ringgold has been using music as a means to enhance present-moment awareness. Additionally, he utilizes it to inspire interpersonal connection, creative, non-verbal expression, and to decrease anxiety and stress. Tim is a board-certified music therapist, and regularly teaches and presents on music therapy across the country. He frequently speaks at national conferences, colleges and universities, and health-care organizations. In addition, Tim has offered group music therapy sessions in numerous clinical settings and for diverse populations. Specifically, his sessions usually include adolescents and adults recovering from substance abuse. However, he also works with older adults with Alzheimer’s and dementia, children and adults with developmental disabilities, cancer patients, and adults grieving the loss of a loved one.
Tim is particularly proud that Newport Academy’s team of music therapists are all board-certified. Thus, all therapists achieved the highest level of clinical training possible in this treatment modality.
Newport Academy…in his own words
“It’s such an honor to be part of teens’ transformation here. The level of self-knowledge these young adults are developing puts them miles ahead of their peers—they think they have a disadvantage, where all I see is an unprecedented opportunity for advantage. What they learn in treatment will serve them for the rest of their lives, and to be part of the team that delivers that transformation makes this the best job ever.”—Tim Ringgold
