Newport Academy Hillside House FAQs

How do I know if my teen boy needs residential treatment?

Signs that your teen may need residential treatment include persistent emotional distress, self-harm or suicidal thoughts, substance abuse, severe behavioral issues, or inability to function at home or school. Consulting with a mental health professional can provide guidance.

How do you support a teen boy struggling with depression?

Support your teen by listening without judgment, encouraging open communication, and validating their feelings. Help them seek professional help, engage in activities they enjoy, and promote a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and proper nutrition.

Why is my teen boy so angry?

Anger in teens can stem from various factors, including hormonal changes, stress, peer pressure, academic challenges, or underlying mental health issues. It’s important to communicate openly and seek professional help if the anger is intense or disruptive.

Are teenage counseling and outpatient adolescent mental health the same?

Teen outpatient treatment encompasses teenage counseling and much more. A PHP, IOP, or outpatient services for your child will provide a wide range of therapeutic and academic experiences, while offering a stable and supportive community and addressing the entire family’s needs.
