In Newport’s outpatient program, teens participate in individual, family, and group therapy; learn healthy lifestyle skills; and build peer connection and self-esteem through activities like hiking, art, music, and more.
What Newport Academy’s Summer Outpatient Treatment Includes
Designed specifically to meet the needs of teens struggling with emerging mental health or behavioral issues, our full-day, 5-day-a-week programming includes:
- Individual therapy to process past trauma and build resilience and healthy coping strategies
- Academic support to help with credit remediation and summer schoolwork
- Art, music making, yoga, and creative writing
- Outdoor activities like hiking, bowling, roller skating, and miniature golf (depending on location)
- Family-focused programming to enhance harmony at home
- Skills-based learning to build coping tools and executive functioning
- Help with college applications, career exploration, and SAT/ACT prep
- Alumni events for teens and parents to create a support network for continued thriving
We also offer reduced hours and days, depending on location.

Our outpatient programs serve teens ages 12–18 in Northern and Southern California, Connecticut, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington State, and Wisconsin. We also serve children ages 7–11 in Southern California.

Teens in our summer program spend time in the classroom each day, exploring their strengths and natural talents while growing their organizational and executive-functioning skills.
Our specialized academic instruction helps adolescents close their proficiency gaps, and provides credit recovery options for students who have fallen behind.
We partner with schools to optimize success for our clients, and to gradually reintegrate them in a way that creates the highest potential for success.

Our licensed and credentialed experts include therapists, psychiatrists, academic teachers, registered nurses, and more, who work together to address each client’s physical, mental, emotional, relational, and educational needs.
Our clinicians are trained in modalities proven to create sustainable healing for teens and families including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Attachment-Based Family Therapy to heal the parent-child relationship and improve family communication.
Experiential Therapy That Empowers Teens
Our robust experiential programming offers avenues for teens to build self-worth and collaborative relationships outside the context of the individual or group therapy room.
Depending on the location, our outpatient programs offer a variety of experiential teen therapy options, including Adventure Therapy in beautiful natural settings, music and art therapy, and yoga and meditation. (Services vary depending on location.)
What to Expect in Newport Academy’s Teen Outpatient Program
Teens experience the power of yoga and meditation sessions.
Our music therapy sessions allow teens to participate in a creative therapeutic process.
Adventure Therapy is as fun as it sounds. Get in touch with the great outdoors in our group hikes, rock climbs, kayaking, and surf classes (location dependent).
Teens attending our program receive support from academic teachers, so they can stay on track with school and foster confidence and a sense of accomplishment.
We encourage teens to let their creativity flourish with art therapy sessions for creative self-expression.
