Costa Mesa Mental Health Statistics
Mental Health America’s 2021 rankings show that close to one in 10 California teens had a major depressive episode during the year. Furthermore, one-third of teens in Southern California report feeling sad or hopeless, and for 13 percent of Los Angeles youth, depressive symptoms accelerated to the point of seriously considering a suicide attempt, the CDC reports.
Despite this growing need, however, California ranked near the bottom of the scale in terms of access to mental healthcare—at number 42. That translates to 64 percent of California teens with depression who receive no treatment at all. Southern California families searching online for “teenage counseling near me,” “costa mesa intensive outpatient treatment,” or “mental health facilities in Orange County, CA” often find limited options and availability.

Newport Academy Costa Mesa Outpatient FAQs
What is the difference between Costa Mesa intensive outpatient treatment and teen inpatient treatment?
While attending a teen outpatient program, your child is in programming during the day or afternoon, and is at home overnight and on weekends. In inpatient treatment, teens live on-site at a residential location while receiving teenage therapy and treatment. Both residential treatment and the highest level of outpatient care (a Partial Hospitalization Program, or PHP) typically include an academic component. If your teen needs more than outpatient programming, we encourage you to learn more about our residential treatment and contact us to determine the best fit for your child.
