Newport Institute: Mental Health & Co-Occurring Disorders Residential Treatment Center for Young Adults

Young people are facing an escalating mental health crisis, reporting the highest stress and depression rates of any generation. To address this, the leadership of Newport Academy launched Newport Institute, a series of nationwide treatment centers that offer a full continuum of care for young adults struggling with mental health issues and co-occurring conditions such as substance use disorder and eating disorders. Newport Institute’s residential programs for young adults with mental illness address the underlying issues and root causes of maladaptive behaviors. Our tailored mental health programs for young adults are built on the same outcomes-driven and results-based treatment that Newport Academy has been offering to teens for over twelve years. Newport Institute will provide young adults with the same integrated care that has brought sustainable healing to thousands of teens and families across the country.

Personalized Approach to Mental Health Care

We are a different kind of residential treatment center for young adults. Newport Institute’s treatment approach is an insight-based, trauma-informed, and relational model that addresses the unique needs of young adults. We recognize in every individual the inherent desire for meaning, purpose, and belonging. For young adults, lack of self-esteem and unresolved trauma can lead to ongoing mental health issues and co-occurring disorders, or challenges that arise as they leave home and begin to lead more independent lives.

Integrated Care Creating Autonomous, Thriving Young Adults

Each resident’s individual treatment program incorporates evidence-based clinical, experiential, and collegiate or life-skills elements for superior, comprehensive care. Our integrated residential treatment center for young adults consists of a minimum of 30 hours of clinical and experiential therapy each week, plus 20 hours targeting collegiate mentorship or working directly with a Newport Institute career counselor to empower life skills and integration into the professional community.

A National Team of Behavioral Health Experts

In our residential treatment center for young adults, our board-certified psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists have advanced degrees within the specializations of mental health, dual diagnosis, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. Degrees include PhD (Psychologist), LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor), LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor), and MD (Medical Doctor and Psychiatrist).

The Newport Institute Treatment Teams meet daily at our young adult treatment centers to review and discuss treatment plans and individuals’ progress. The team shares research and results to optimize each young adult’s curriculum and therapeutic growth track as they recover from addiction, mental health disorders, and trauma.

Young Adult Male Residential Treatment Centers

Gender-specific residential programs for young adults allow young men to focus on aspects of their recovery that might be difficult to discuss in dual-gender settings. This nurturing experience creates a space for compassion, trust, and camaraderie. We foster an environment where young men can express themselves, discover their creative passions, and identify their next steps as they progress towards independent life.
