Raven Rose’s personal experiences with depression, sexuality, bicultural identity, and gender oppression have culminated into a passion for helping others in similar situations. In her role as a counselor for Newport Academy, she works best through experiential learning and a trustworthy community, as well as her lifelong commitment to social justice. Raven has a strong desire to understand herself and others, and she has faith in transformation—whether it be large or small. Raven’s meditation teacher, Camille Maurine is her biggest influence for her integrity in leadership and her capacity to lead others into deep inquiry. On a broader scale, Raven is also influenced by Carl Jung, Dr. Martin Luther King, Angela Davis, and Margaret Cho.
Raven is trained in the trauma resiliency model which allows her to offer clients grounding and the ability to track physical sensations with emotion. Using this methodology, she helps clients build a strong resilient zone. Raven excels in treating low self-esteem, codependence, depression, anxiety, grief, failure to launch, LGBTQ issues, bi-racial/bicultural identity issues, step-parenting, issues relating to sexuality, and gender oppression.
Newport Academy…in her own words
“Before joining Newport Academy, I was initially attracted to the positive and collaborative work culture. The entire team strives to take a holistic approach that combines mind and body, providing an environment which encourages emotional intelligence and self-awareness. As a result, clients are encouraged to commit to their own healing.” –Raven Rose
