Rachel Burton, MA, R-DMT
Rachel Burton is a recent graduate of Antioch University New England’s dance and movement therapy and counseling program. She chose to pursue a degree in healthcare because she enjoys helping others and encouraging them to achieve their personal goals. Rachel is inspired by numerous researchers in the dance and movement therapy field, with special credit for Tal Shafir and his research on the correlations between dance therapy, counseling, and psychology.
As a Milieu Therapist, Rachel has participated in a DBT skills training workshop and excels at treating dance and movement therapy and other expressive art therapies. She loves working in dance and movement therapy because she works with patients to develop and strengthen the mind-body connection and build feelings of safety and comfort within oneself and with others.
While studying for her master’s degree in dance and movement therapy, Rachel worked at the Maplewood Nursing Home, New Hope/New Horizon, Wediko Children’s Services, and Dominion Hospital.
