Nikki Andrews, LMFT
Nikki Andrews, LMFT, Registered Art Therapist, has worked extensively with teens in various settings. These include outpatient community mental health, school-based and home-based services. In addition, she has also facilitated change and recovery for clients struggling with eating disorders. This work, she’s done in in partial hospitalization and Intensive outpatient programs. Furthermore, before joining the Newport Academy team, Nikki was the primary therapist at Shoreline in Long Beach, California. She worked with adolescent girls and adult woman in the areas of body image, spirituality, and values. Also, as a children’s therapist at ENKI Youth and Family Services in Commerce, California, she provided therapy to children and adolescents up to age 18.
Nikki feels art therapy is a unique and invaluable modality for accessing hidden parts of the psyche. In addition, it fosters healing by helping people reconnect with their inner self. She also utilizes a range of other therapeutic techniques. These include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
