Matthew Gomer, CADC-II
Since joining the Newport Academy team in 2010, Matthew Gomer has filled many leadership roles—including Lead Care Coordinator, Residential Coordinator, and now Counselor—developing an in-depth knowledge of the organization’s infrastructure, and training many of his colleagues.
In recovery himself for more than 16 years, he has been working in the field for 11 of those years. Matthew feels privileged to give back to young people the knowledge and self-understanding that he received on the recovery path, sharing with teens the importance of honesty, integrity, and what it means to be accountable for their actions. He is dedicated to serving the needs of residents and their family members, and helping them to understand and embrace the recovery process.
Newport Academy…in his own words.
“The relationships that I have built over the years at Newport Academy are irreplaceable. I have many cherished memories of all the friends and professionals I have learned from over the years, and the clients and their families I have met along the way.” —Matthew Gomer
