Kristen Powers, RN
Kristen Powers has been a Registered Nurse for 15+ years and joined Newport Academy in 2019. She chose to pursue a career in healthcare because in her opinion, there is no greater feeling than making a difference in the life of a child. For this reason, her clients are her biggest influences. She has helped so many teens through adolescent treatment programs, and helped them through emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges, and she in honored to provide them medical care in a safe and comfortable environment. Kristen grew up with mental health issues in her immediate family, and even had her own personal struggles throughout her teenage years. This intimate background gives her a deeper understanding of her clients, so she is able to offer them and their families the best support as they work through an adolescent treatment program.
Kristen’s background is in pediatric and adolescent critical care. Currently, she is working to expand her experience by attending eating disorder treatment trainings. Kristen earned her undergraduate degree in nursing from Nassau Community College. Prior to Newport Academy, Kristen worked at a large children’s hospital where she specialized in critical care patients.
Newport Academy…in her own words
“I didn’t know what to expect when I walked into Newport Academy. I was taken back by the beautiful campus and non-hospital like setting. It is a welcoming therapeutic environment for both the staff and the clients and their families. Everyone here is friendly and works together as one big team, which is really helpful for our clients!” – Kristen Powers
