Julie Beckerman, MA, AMFT
Julie Beckerman has been working in the mental health field for 5 years as an Individual Therapist. Since joining Newport Academy in 2019, Julie’s goal has been to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to embrace their individuality and truth so they can learn to build strong, trustworthy, and healthy relationships with their family and friends. Her work is inspired by Peter Levine and his emphasis on the mind-body connection and how to work with our impulses to heal trauma.
Julie has participated in suicide prevention and ABFT trainings. While studying for her graduate degree, Julie completed a program in somatic psychology and incorporates these learnings into her work. In her opinion, she excels at treating eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
Prior to joining Newport Academy, Julie worked at the Lotus Collaborative Eating Disorder Recovery Center which offered both PHP and IOP (outpatient) levels of care both as a Program Coordinator and Recovery Counselor. During these roles, she was the first point of contact for client and families as they began the recovery process and served as a liaison for clients throughout this transition. She also worked at the STARS Behavioral Health and the Center for Somatic Psychology.
