Johanna Marco, LMFT
Johanna Marco loves helping others in any way possible. Being able to support clients in improving their wellbeing is so rewarding to her and is the main motivation for her continued work in the field. Her biggest inspiration on her clinical work comes from her Grandmother. Johanna has attended workshops focused on identify, LGBTQ+ youth, trauma, depression, anxiety, and aggression, all of which she is comfortable treating in her role at Newport Academy. She is further trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Model, Risking Connections, among others.
In her opinion, she excels at working with teenagers who want to explore their identity including LGBTQ+, as well as teens struggling with trauma, depression, and anxiety. In fact, she witnessed so many friends struggle with mental health issues and/or addiction throughout college that she wanted to learn how to help them in a tangible way. Prior to Newport Academy, Johanna worked as a clinician at Wheeler Clinic where she earned a position as a supervisor. In that role, she trained staff in various models and techniques, treated clients, and facilitated family sessions and clinical groups.
