Jetona Kulla, LPN
Jetona Kulla has been a nurse for nearly 7 years, and recently joined the Newport Academy healthcare team. Her father is her biggest influence because of his strength and resilience in battling heart disease for decades. Despite all odds he continues to fight and Jetona is inspired to be a better person because of him. In her opinion, Jetona excels at treating clients with PTSD and MDD. She has close loved ones in her life that suffer from both of these mental health struggles, and her personal experience has given her a lot of exposure to behaviors and nuances of those issues that are valuable for treatment.
Jetona decided to pursue a career as a nurse because she witnessed a close friend recover from PTSD and MDD. Through this experience, she realized how much kindness and compassion is needed from a care team and she was inspired to be a part of the process. She previously worked at Beacon Brook Health Center where her Charge Nurse duties included approving medication, completing treatments, and offering emotional support to clients. Jetona also worked for the Wester Connecticut Medical Group where she assisted with a wide variety of clinical treatments similar to her Charge Nurse duties at Beacon Brook.
Newport Academy…in her own words
“Newport Academy has surpassed my expectations from day one. Since starting here I have never felt like “the new girl”. Every department has been kind and helpful and the environment is buzzing with positivity. The ability to help be part of a team that makes a difference in someone’s life is what attracted me here. I truly feel that I have found purpose in my nursing career here at Newport!”–Jetona Kulla
