Barbara Brozstek Haddad, LPC
Barbara Brozstek Haddad works as a Family Therapist to assist people to make positive changes in their lives. Barbara chose to pursue a career as a Family Therapist because she suffered from depression and anxiety as a teenager. Unfortunately, she wasn’t properly diagnosed and had little support due to the stigma surrounding mental health issues. This experience greatly impacted her, so she made it her goal to support teenagers and young adults through their struggles. She has participated in Level I and Advanced Training for ABFT, EMDR Sessions Levels I and II, Vicarious Trauma, and Coping Cats CBT –a model for youth and adolescents. Barbara has been trained to treat both major and minor traumas using EMDR sessions. She also uses this modality to treat substance abuse issues, among other mental health issues such as anxiety, phobias, and excessive grief. Finally, she is also trained in attachment-based family therapy, which she employs at Newport Academy.
In her opinion, she excels at treating trauma, anxiety, depression, and family struggles. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Saint Joseph in Hartford, CT, where she also earned her master’s degree in Counseling.
Newport Academy…in her own words
“Newport Academy has a great clinical team and leadership and provides many opportunities for trainings and workshops which can expand my toolbox for treating clients. They serve a wide range of disorders and have many treatment modalities. Family therapy is rare in residential and inpatient settings but is extremely effect. By offering this modality, we are able to treat the whole family versus just the resident.” – Barbara Brozstek Haddad
