Individual and Family Therapist
Atim Bassey, LMSW
Atim Bassey decided to become a family therapist because of her lifelong interest in the family system. One her favorite parts of the recovery process is watching the tremendous change that happens when a family begins to work together again to change their future for the better. To Atim, her biggest influences are her colleagues at Newport Academy. She is continually impressed by their compassion, empathy, and courage.
Atim has participated in specialized trainings functional family therapy sessions and attachment-based family therapy (ABFT), both of which she uses in her daily sessions with patients. She specifically uses ABFT when there have been ruptures that prevent a family from connecting and utilizes the modality to bring the family back together.
Newport Academy…in her own words
“Newport Academy is a program that cares about teens reaching their goals. They recognize that without family connection and support a teen cannot fully address their mental health or learn how to growth into happy, healthy adults.””–Atim Bassey
