Equine Specialist

Robyn brings a unique blend of education, training and experience to our program. Her background of Yoga therapy, combined with her equine skills and knowledge of horse behavior, along with her desire to be of service to others, merge together in her role as an EAGALA Certified Equine Specialist. Working alongside a Mental Health Professional (Mickey Kay Troxell) she never ceases to be amazed of the impact Equine Assisted Psychotherapy has on the participants and is honored to be a part of the process.

Robyn has been involved with horses for over 28 years in various capacities. She was with a Mounted Patrol Unit in Southern California for over 7 years, fine tuning her ability to observe the nonverbal communication of the horses as well as humans during mounted patrol of shopping centers and providing security for many events.

Sharing her knowledge of Natural Horsemanship with the residents of Newport Academy as the Horsemanship instructor is rewarding, as she witnesses the residents becoming more connected with the horses through continued contact.

Robyn is also a Registered Yoga Therapist with Yoga Alliance, with over 11 years experience operating her own studio. She provides her own user-friendly blend of yoga styles in a way that is fun and accessible for everyone.

Robyn’s unique ability to connect with her students is drawn from rich life experiences and her intuitive nature. Her gentle spirit and genuine compassion provides a supportive atmosphere for her students to learn and grow. We are thankful to have her presence here at Newport Academy.
