Lindsy Walker, Care Coordinator

Care Coordinator

During her first few years of junior college, Lindsy studied addictions and worked with the 12 step program, as well as AL-Anon. She also has spent quite a bit of time working with children with special needs and abnormal behaviors in the first and second grade classroom. She will be transferring to Cal State Long Beach in the fall and will be working towards receiving her degree in Psychology. In the future she also plans on receiving her Masters in counseling. Lindsy has grown up with alcohol and addiction among her family, and it came close to tearing her family apart. She was determined not to let that happen, her life experiences have given her a strong back bone, and a great understanding for the disease. Lindsy’s love for horses was the thing that first sparked her interest in Newport Academy. She has been riding and competing horses since she was 3 years old. By the time she was fifteen, she was the assistant trainer for former Olympian Bernie Traurig in San Diego, CA. Lindsy went on to continue working with children in Orange County, training European sport horses and helping to carry her team to the National Championships. She has also has experience doing equine therapy with special needs children in San Juan Capistrano, CA, at the The Shea Center. She truly understands the spirit and strength between human and horse. Lindsy is eager to help to bring healing and happiness to the young woman at Newport Academy, and help them down their road to recovery.
