Bryant Smith

Adjutant

Bryant Smith has worked with horses for almost a quarter century. He is noted as having a special bond with horses and an innate ability to work with them and understand their idiosyncrasies’. An extremely kind and compassionate person, Bryant works with the Staff at Newport Academy and the care takers for the horses to insure a serene setting for both the residents and horses. Bryant supervises the ordering of feed and supplies, scheduling the vet and farrier, record keeping, and related administrative duties. In addition, Bryant handles routine health maintenance (immunizations, deworming, etc.) and handles medications and injury care under the supervision of the veterinarian.

An extremely compassionate and trustworthy individual, Bryant also knows first-hand the devastation that addiction can bear on a family. Bryant tragically lost his son who struggled with addiction for many years. He is committed to working at Newport Academy and helping make a positive change in teens who also struggle with addiction. His deep understanding of the horse-human connection and compassion for all things is a great asset to Newport Academy.
